What is microneedling?

Microneedling is your go-to treatment for instantly firmer, smoother skin! Known for its incredible ability to stimulate the growth of collagen and elastin, microneedling delivers real results in overall skin rejuvenation. Not only will this leave you glowing, it can also reduce scarring, stretch marks, blackheads, open pores, fine lines, hyperpigmentation and more. Due to the speed of the device, treatments are fast, comfortable and able to target large or multiple areas at once.

How does it work?

Microneedling works by insertion of a multi-point micro needle into the skin at a very high rate of speed, usually thousands of insertions per minute. As these very sharp micro-needles enter the skin, they injure it, which in turn trigger the body’s natural healing and regeneration response to cellular injury. Part of this epidermal repair process involves the production of new collagen and elastin, which results in a thicker dermal layer that softens the appearance of wrinkles. The micro-channels created during the treatment allow active ingredients from your skincare products to penetrate to the deepest layers of the skin to deliver even more powerful results.

Frequently asked questions.

Depending on your treatment goals and your skin condition you may decide to have a single treatment or your esthetician may advise you to have a series of 4-8 treatments spaced 6-8 weeks apart.

Generally it is pain free, but deeper micro-needling treatments can be uncomfortable. Therefore a topical anesthetic will be applied ahead of time to reduce any discomfort.

Immediately after a micro-needling treatment the skin can appear red or flushed similar to a moderate sunburn. typically any redness will resolve within 1–2 days.

Mild discomfort and redness are the most common side effects. Microdermal needling does not involve injections therefore, regardless of race or color, our clients have shown no adverse skin reactions or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Internal and external hydration is essential. Drink lots of water and carefully follow the skincare regimen prescribed by your skin care specialist. Practice good sun protection and avoid abrasive topicals or any other treatments for 2–3 days.

Unlike lasers, micro-needling breaks up pigment mechanically and remodels the collagen without heat. Removing heat from the equation makes for a safer, more comfortable treatment.
